GLOBALSTAR SATELLITE AIRTIME PROMOTION BREAKS THE 10-CENT
PER MINUTE PRICE BARRIER
Satellite service provider continues leadership role
in providing high value satellite voice and data services
Globalstar, Inc., a world leader in providing mobile
satellite voice and data services to business, announced
today that it has launched a new promotion in the United
States that will effectively reduce the per minute rate
charged for satellite airtime to as low as nine cents
per minute, when customers activate a new phone on one
of the companys highest usage satellite rate plans.
The limited time promotion is being announced as Globalstar
prepares to ship its eight ground spares satellites
to Europe for pre-launch testing, now that it has received
export approval from the US government. During the promotion
period, Globalstar is lowering the effective cost of
airtime to new customers by providing them with an opportunity
to receive up to 50% bonus airtime minutes, in addition
to the standard bundled minutes they would normally
receive when activating a satellite phone on one of
the Globalstar annual or monthly airtime packages.
With the launch of this special promotion and
the middle of hurricane season almost upon us, now is
the time for many people and businesses to consider
taking a look at a satellite telephone for either emergency
preparedness or increased productivity, said Dennis
Allen, Senior VP of US Sales and Marketing for Globalstar,
Inc. Mr. Allen added, In the past, many people
felt that satellite telephone airtime rates were cost
prohibitive but with this promotion along with other
new offerings such as the specialized Emergency Plan,
they are now beginning to realize how competitive satellite
phone rates have become.
The Globalstar offer known as the Countdown and Load
Up Promotion is available for a limited time and for
all standard annual and monthly airtime packages to
new customers in the United States. During the promotion,
lower usage customers who activate on the companys
most widely selected rate plan, will see the effective
rate charged drop to 29 cents per minute.
