Inmarsat Wins Award for Best Universal Service Offering
Inmarsat was recognized at the prestigious CommsMEA 2006 telecom awards ceremony in Dubai for providing the best universal service offering in the Middle East and Africa.
An independent panel of judges selected Inmarsat for the 'Best Universal Service Offering' award at a ceremony on 11 September in Dubai.
The annual awards are organised by CommsMEA, the leading Middle Eastern telecoms magazine.
The award is given to the operator that "has done the most to expand access to communications and reduce the cost of access as far as possible, beyond the requirements set out in its licence terms".
Judged by a high profile panel of telecoms experts, the CommsMEA awards recognise outstanding performance in a total of 14 key areas of the telecoms industry in the Middle East and Africa.
Winners were announced at an elaborate gala dinner attended by senior executives and personalities from the Middle East and Africa telecommunications industry, as well as a number of other high-profile special guests.
Samer Halawi, Inmarsat's regional director for the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, said: "I am delighted that we have been recognised by CommsMEA. This prestigious award reflects the global nature of our business, of which the judges were unanimously impressed."
